

The Crescent Nebula consists of filamentary gas remnants from a supernova explosion as well as a prominent blue oxygen-3 gas shell. One notable feature is the very dark dust patch in the center of the Crescent.

The blue bubble seen here is the remnants of WR 134, a massive star that has blown off its outer layers. It is suspended in a mass of red hydrogen gas.
This image was captured with my one-shot color (OSC) camera and RedCat 51 telescope. I took this image over a few nights through a dual narrowband filter that isolates the hydrogen and oxygen wavelengths to produce the bicolor tone of this image.
I processed this image in the program PixInsight. I stacked the subframes and then did background extraction. Notably, I did not have to be aggressive with noise reduction because of the sheer amount of data that I had. I stretched the data and did several curve adjustments to help bring out WR 134 and the Crescent.
Being my to-date longest astronomy project, spanning four nights, I had to figure out when enough data was present to meaningfully bring out WR 134. Otherwise, I lucked out with the weather and moon which made for a smooth capture with less issues than usual.
